Legacy Museum

Honoring History and Inspiring Change

The Equal Justice Initiative partnered with Davis Architects to renovate its Legacy Pavilion in Montgomery for an exhibition space including a gallery space, digital displays, large audio-visual components, and back-of-house support space.

The building and its circulation are organized around a large lobby, which was renovated as part of the project. The exterior incorporated copper panels and signage to complement the messaging of the exhibits housed within. A three-hour fire wall was required to separate the existing Pavilion from the new 25,000-sf expansion, and it was seamlessly integrated into the architecture so that it was invisible to visitors.
